Hello everyone! Yoshi from N-TECH here.
Today, I want to give you a behind-the-scenes look at some of the fine details we focus on in our shop. I'll be sharing these insights across a few posts, and first up is our approach to emblems, specifically the double-sided tape and laser-cutting we use.
Many cars have emblems on the hood, front bumper, fenders, or rear bumper. When we’re doing full nose or full body PPF, we often remove these emblems to ensure a clean, seamless line for the film, which also makes care easier. For customers who’d rather not have the emblems removed, we have custom-cut data to fit precisely around them. But today, let’s talk about what happens when we do remove them.
Traditionally, after removing emblems for PPF, you’d have two options:
A: Buy a new emblem to reapply after the PPF installation.
B: Reuse the emblem by hand-cutting double-sided tape.
With option A, new emblems can be expensive, and rare or custom-colored ones might involve long wait times. Option B saves on cost and time, but cutting the tape by hand often falls short in terms of clean, precise lines, especially with intricate emblem designs. From certain angles, it can look uneven or lack the seamless finish of a new emblem.
As a perfectionist, I wasn’t satisfied with either approach. Spending hundreds of dollars on a new emblem to protect a new car felt excessive, and I hated seeing the rough look of hand-cut tape. That’s why, quite some time ago, we invested in a laser-cutting machine specifically for emblem tape.
We also keep a stock of double-sided tape in a variety of thicknesses and materials that match those used by different car manufacturers. This way, we can precisely recreate the original look, texture, and fit, without compromising on quality or appearance.
Not everyone may notice, but at N-TECH, we’re committed to a flawless install for every detail, not just the PPF or tint film.
Next time, I’ll cover our custom-cut data designed for customers who prefer not to remove their emblems at all. Stay tuned!
